5 Reasons I became an Early Childhood Educator

I have been a preschool teacher for over 17 years and have had the pleasure of teaching and supporting many children in various programs. Before moving into consulting and out of the classroom I looked at my job as an opportunity to nurture each child and give them the tools necessary to navigate confidently. In education, we need to encourage and seek out new and upcoming teachers. Let’s mentor those who display the commitment, empathy, passion, love, respect of the whole child. I am on a mission to encourage and seek out the next group of change makers in the field of Early Childhood Education.

Here are 5 reasons I became an Early Childhood Educator

1. As an Early Childhood Educator you have the opportunity to positively impact a child in the most critical time of their development.

Birth to 5 years are the most important years in a child’s life and as a teacher you would be able to provide appropriate experiences for your students.

2. It is one of the most rewarding and irreplaceable professions.

Teach because you want to make a difference in the world.

3. You can be a child’s first example of “kindness and respect.”

Teachers have the opportunity to show and model the importance of treating others with kindness and respect.

4. I love to help children learn.

Teachers strive to provide spaces and developmental appropriate activities to help support each child develop to their full potential.

5. We get to see the world through a child’s eyes which is AMAZING!!

Daily interactions with your students will offer rich and unique experiences. All children are uniquely made.

I hope these nuggets helped encourage someone today to know the joy, passion and commitment it takes to teach it’s a great field. Feel free to leave comments below of the reasons you chose to teach I’d love to hear them.
