Testimonials

I highly recommend Annette Serwanga as I have known her for 10 years.  She is a dedicated,  passionate committed early childhood educator. In 2019 she was the Program Director at The Child Education Center in Berkeley ,CA . She held all programmatic responsibilities, supervised and supported staff daily. Annette is very knowledgeable in Early Childhood Education and Child Development. We were very excited for her to share her many years of teaching Early Childhood and serving children with Challenging Behaviors. As the Program Director she quickly immersed herself in this new leadership role.

Annette is very enthusiastic and is highly motivated and stayed readily available to tend to the needs of both staff and the families at The Child Education Center. She created a daily schedule for the staff. She helped organize while providing extensive support to the Pre-K program to help normalize there ratios, daily schedule. She also provided classroom, teacher observations with documentation. She readily connected met and served the needs of a diverse population while working at CEC. Annette continues to make powerful contributions to the field and the lives of the children she serves.

Throughout my time working alongside Annette she modeled a high level of competence, strong leadership, professionalism.  I feel Mrs. Serwanga will be a great support, asset to any client who is interested in providing their child or organization with her quality educational services.

“We first met Annette when she was introduced to us as our daughters preschool teacher. She was forceful yet kind and warm and well respected by the 2 year olds that she taught. Our daughter had social-emotional issues and often disrupted her class with meltdowns. Annette was the only teacher in the school that could calm our daughter down and talk her through her frustrations by using her words. Even when our daughter moved from the toddler group to the preschool group and was assigned a different teacher, she still found ways to spend time with Annette. When we heard that Annette was leaving the school our entire family was heartbroken. We knew that the preschool was losing a valuable asset. Fortunately for us, Annette recently started up her own consultancy focusing on helping young children with their social emotional needs. We immediately signed up because we were receiving less than favorite reports from school about her disruptive behavior. Our daughter worked with Annette one on one. She is now thriving at school. Her teachers have reported that she hasn’t had a bad day in months. We highly recommend Annette to help your child with behavioral issues.”

“Annette was my daughter’s toddler teacher for a year at the Child Unique Montessori school. She was the obvious favorite teacher with all the kids as well as with the parents. Annette has an amazing rapport with the children. It was a pleasure to watch her interact with them, and it made me wish to have that ability. The kids not only adored her, but they also respected her, and looked up to her. My daughter is very strong-willed. Annette quickly learned and understood my daughter’s personality and tailored her teachings so that my daughter would be more receptive to learning. It is because of Annette that my daughter learned her last name before she spoke in sentences.  All the 2-year olds knew each other’s first and last names. Annette was always interested in the development of the children and took her time to answer any questions or concerns the parents had, even if it did not pertain to school. She has set my mind at ease on several occasions and gave me many tips on how to deal with my strong-willed child. It is obvious that Annette greatly cares for the children, no other teacher has showed as much interest in the well being and development of my daughter as she has. My daughter still talks about Miss Annette being her favorite.”

Annette Serwanga is a very passionate, dedicated and experienced early childhood educator. I had the pleasure of working closely with Annette while she was completing a Masters in Education with an Emphasis in Early Childhood at Mills College in Oakland, California. I was Chair of Early Childhood for the School of Education, Annette’s advisor, and her professor for several graduate level courses. In my work with Annette, I learned that she has a strong commitment to a strengths-based and culturally responsive approach to her work with children and families. She is committed to continuously learning and growing as a professional and I repeatedly saw how she systematically studies her practice by using inquiry, reflection, discussion with her colleagues, and empirical research to inform her professional development. Annette is very experienced with direct service and more recently, she has been expanding her knowledge of child and family policies that influence the field of early childhood. She is particularly committed to addressing issues of equity and social justice for children, families, and the ECE workforce that serves them. I am happy to be contacted to answer any questions you may have about my experiences working with Annette Serwanga
