About Annette Serwanga
Annette Serwanga, M.A. Ed is from Sacramento, California. Her life’s passion is working with young children and she has been working in Early Childhood Education for 18 years. In 2019, she was the Program Director at The Child Education Center in Berkeley, CA. Annette supervised and managed 18 staff and supported 5 classrooms. In 2017- 2019 she also was the Teacher, Improvement Grant Consultant & Internal Coach at The Child Unique Montessori School in Alameda, CA. In this role she supported 3 campuses and held the title as Head Toddler teacher for two years. In 2016-2017 she was also a 3 to 5-year-old co-teacher at Oakland Progressive Day Care for Children in Oakland, CA. There were 12 students and the philosophy implemented was Reggio-Emilia and Montessori based.
In 2011-2015, at the Mountain Boulevard Montessori she was the Head Toddler Teacher. In addition to this role she also created and implemented the Physical Education Program for Kindergartners in which she also taught.
In 2016, she transitioned into consulting with a desire to continue her direct service. She also provides virtual trainings for families, organizations and staff.
She started Serwanga Consulting so she can support families, Public Schools, Private Schools, Government Agencies, Non-Profit Organizations, Day Care Providers, Child Care Providers and Educators working with children who display “Challenging Behaviors.”
Her clients range from: Lotus Bloom Family Resources, Bananas (State Designated Agency), Primero Pasos Child Care, LLC, The Child Unique Montessori, Child Care Links, Parent Voices Oakland, Education Forward and numerous Families.
She earned her M.A. Ed with an emphasis in Early Childhood Education from Mills College in Oakland, CA. She also earned her B.A. in Liberal Studies with a concentration in English Literature from Patten University in Oakland, CA.
Services
I provide strategies for Organizations, Early Childhood Educators and families of children (Birth to 5) when faced with children displaying Challenging Behaviors. The Challenging Behaviors I provide support with are the following but not limited to hitting, kicking, throwing things, biting, meltdowns, tantrums, running and children with complex social-emotional needs.
In my trainings/workshops I provide tools and help prepare environments to best serve each child’s needs. I use Developmentally Appropriate Practices, Social Emotional Strategies while providing resources that identify challenging behaviors.
Serwanga Consulting gives solutions in real time. Clients come away feeling supported and gain overall techniques in order to help serve their child best in various settings.
